Virginia Beach Summer School

The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 9 meeting. For the 2023-24 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $16.3 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

Financial aid may be available through Virginia Career Works Norfolk Center for selected programs. Look for Approved by Hampton Roads Workforce Council (HRWC) Call 757-461-7537 or visit http://www. vcwhamptonroads.org/virginia-career-works-hamptonroads-2/ for eligibility information. HRWC funding may be subject to change.

Senior discount on select courses are for people aged 60 plus. To qualify for the discount include your birth date on your registration form.

Course prerequisites are listed for some Community Education courses. Courses without a prerequisite listed have no special requirement.

Course registration confirmation may contain additional information about your course and is mailed to you.

Waiting lists are created when a class fills. If we receive your registration after class fills, we will contact you to offer other dates or a place on the waiting list.

Course cancellation occurs when there is insufficient enrollment to hold the course. You will be notified by phone or email and offered another section or issued a full refund. Be sure to include your email address and a local phone number on your registration form.

Course completion certificate is available upon request for pick up at the ALC or delivery by email. Allow two weeks for processing.

Continuing Education Unit (CEU) through Old Dominion University and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) are available upon request for a fee. Withdrawals and transfers initiated by the student will be assessed a $15 processing fee.

Withdrawals must be submitted in writing five days before the class start date to be eligible for refund. Allow two weeks for processing. No refunds are issued once class has started or if you fail to attend class.
